Viewing Church broadcasts using Zune

Zune
Fans of both the Microsoft Zune media player and PC software can now find Church General Conference broadcasts listed in the Zune Podcast directory. Using compatible audio/video cables local units are able to connect to a projector or TV and playback videos for congregations. Alternately, playback may be done using a USB drive or by being burned to DVD.

Requirements

  • PC with the following:
    • 8GB of available disk space
    • HD Graphics capable (Recommended 2.0GHz or faster processor, 1 GB of RAM, and 32 MB of video memory)
  • Meetinghouse Internet or access to a broadband Internet connection (playback does not require Internet)
  • TV or projector with screen
  • Compatible audio/video cables

Downloading Zune software for Microsoft Windows

  1. Navigate to http://www.zune.net/en-us/products/software/download/default.htm.
  2. Click Download now.

Subscribing to a podcast

Subscribe
  1. Navigate to http://podcast.lds.org.
  2. Click on the podcast you wish to subscribe to.
  3. Copy the URL.
  4. Open Microsoft Zune.
  5. Click Collection.
  6. Click podcasts.
  7. Click Add a podcast.
  8. Paste the URL and click SUBSCRIBE.

Downloading files

Once you have subscribed to a podcast, the most recent three files will automatically begin to download. To manually download additional files, click DOWNLOAD next to the file. To change the amount of automatically downloaded files, click SERIES SETTINGS.

Connecting to a projector or TV for playback

Connecting a PC to a TV or projector using a VGA-to-VGA cable

  1. Plug VGA cable into VGA port on computer.
  2. Plug 1/8th inch stereo audio cable into line out or headphone port on computer.
  3. Plug opposite end of VGA cable into the TV or projector.
  4. Plug opposite end of 1/8th inch stereo audio cable into TV or projector or audio system.
  5. Select the appropriate TV or projector input source.
  6. Change computer display settings to output to projector or TV. This may be done by pressing the Windows key and pressing P.

Connecting a PC to a TV or projector using a VGA-to-composite cable

  1. Plug VGA end into VGA port on computer.
  2. Plug 1/8th inch stereo audio cable into line out or headphone port on computer.
  3. Plug the composite end into the TV or projector.
  4. Plug opposite end of 1/8th inch stereo audio cable into the line in of the TV, projector, or audio system.
  5. Select the appropriate TV or projector input source.
  6. Change computer display settings to output to projector or TV. This may be done by pressing the Windows key and pressing P.

Playing back a file

Subscribe
  1. Open Microsoft Zune.
  2. Click Collection.
  3. Click videos.
  4. Double-click on the file you wish to play.
