Talk:Non-quality item

(Redirected from Talk:Non quality item)

Source of term?

I've never heard this term applied to Church finances. Where does the term come from? Does it appear on official reports in the UK? It certainly doesn't in the US.

Also, if we are keeping the term, I would think that the hyphenated form "non-quality item" that is used in the article introduction is more accurate that the article title with a space: "non quality item". -- Aebrown 13:07, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

The term comes from reports that are used by administration offices around the world where the back office systems (CFAR & LURBS) reconcile the information that is submitted by MLS or manual reports with the bank data they also receive. Reports that use the term non-quality item include; the Consolidated LURBS Monthly Statistical Summary and the Local Unit Statistical Summary Management Report. It's a term our MSR supervisor is constantly talking about. However that may be related to the fact they are more of an issue in Europe than in North America.
I used the non hyphenated form in the article title as I was aware of previous issues around the term Out of Unit records although now rereading it, rather than relying on memory, the case was the standard use was without hyphens. I will move the article. --Steve 13:25, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
