Problems changing phone numbers

can't make changes to phone numbers on list, it tells me incorrect format for e-mail, and it is a phone number i am trying to change. NOT VERY USER FRIENDLY!!!!! -- Ralger 22:31, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

This kind of issue is better reported on the LDSTech Forum. These talk pages are to discuss the documentation, not the way the application works. -- Aebrown 05:36, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

Request to change personal information

Alfredwilliam, I undid your recent edit. It appears you were using this wiki page, which is general documentation for the Directory application on lds.org, to make a specific request for a change in your membership information. No one here can help you with that; you need to discuss it with your ward clerk. I'm sure he'd be happy to help you. -- Aebrown 05:36, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

Change perspective of article instructions

The title of the article indicates the article is directed at an individual editing only their personal directory profile. The information that can actually be edited extends to include the household profile as well as other household member's profile information. The article also does not address rights to edit profiles based on household status. As I understand it, minors, those under 18, cannot edit the household profile or even their personal profile.

The title as well as the article "speaking to" any individual should be changed to reflect those who can actually edit the household as well as individual directory profiles. How about "Editing directory profiles" for the title?

Without knowledge of the actual behaviors for individuals with different rights I do not want to attempt to edit this article. I only see what I have as an administrator and what my wife can see as an adult member. We have no adult or minor children in our household to test various rights.--Jdlessley 20:16, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

Jdlessley, I see that you did decide to make the above changes. For the most part I agreed with your changes, but I made some adjustments. There were a couple of places that the extra words added no clarity (e.g., step 5 in the first section added a preamble "To edit a phone number or e-mail address," but the preamble to the list of steps already says that).
The other change I made was to remove references to an individual member profile. In the current user interface, there is only a concept of a household profile. There is only an "Edit Profile" link, not an "Edit Profiles" link. So I think it is confusing to introduce a new concept of an individual profile in the documentation when no such concept exists in the application. I think the changes you made already make it clear that individual information is affected when those fields within the household profile are changed. -- Aebrown 12:31, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

Changing existing email or phone number

Meganmbaker, I reverted your recent change. You seem to think that users cannot change existing phone numbers or email addresses, but that is not correct. Members can certainly add an email address or phone number where one had not previously been entered, but they are also welcome to change an existing email address or phone number. Members in my stake make such changes all the time, and it works exactly how you would expect. -- Aebrown 02:49, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
