Suggestion: Icons to represent each degree of privacy

The new privacy settings are welcome and a good improvement to the directory. I recommend that we use some simple, grayscale icons similar to those below to represent the three levels of privacy:

  1. Icon-priesthood-leader.PNG Leaders only
  2. Icon-home.PNG Ward
  3. Icon-meeting-house.PNG Stake

Rolling over the icon would give a text tip explaining the meaning. This suggestion is patterned after the icons used on Facebook and Google+: a beach ball for publicly visible, a padlock for "only me", etc.

The icons above were taken from the LDS Maps application: Suggested Icons for lds.org Directory privacy setting-cropped.PNG

Thanks for the suggestion. I passed this on to the project team for their consideration. --Tom Johnson 19:59, 19 March 2012 (UTC)

Using the Ward Privacy Level opts members out of emails sent by Leaders via Messaging experience

I have found that members whose privacy setting is set to the Ward privacy level are opted out of messages send to various categories of church members (e.g., All adult members) by ward leaders. -- Mws46 11:49, 27 July 2012‎ (MDT)

This has been discussed multiple times on the forum; see, for example, this thread. -- Aebrown (talk) 12:06, 27 July 2012 (MDT)
