LDSClerks

LDSClerks is an unofficial e-mail list and wiki for ward and stake clerks and ward and stake executive secretaries to discuss how to perform their duties and to share information about their duties. Contributors to the mail list are a community of people serving as clerks and in related callings who share their experiences, questions, and answers. While the discussion is for clerks, priesthood leaders (bishops, stake presidents, and others) and even the general membership of the Church may join the list, provided that they stick to the topic.

History

Mailing list

The email list started on December 8th, 1998, and has since moved servers three times and software twice. It has grown to more than 1,000 subscribers, all the while gaining and losing members as subscribers are called to be clerks or are released from those callings. In the process, members have contributed more than 20,000 messages to the list, over a period of more than 10 years[1].

Wiki

On 15 January 2007, the LDSClerks mail list subscriber ldsskier suggested that a wiki for clerks would be helpful. Several list subscribers quickly offered to help, and the number of volunteers soon hit 25. Kent Larsen noted that he had experience installing and managing a different wiki based on MediaWiki, and offered to set up the wiki. On 17 January 2007, just two days after the initial idea was suggested, the LDSClerks wiki came into being.

In March 2009, the bulk of the content of the LDSClerks wiki was copied to the LDSTech wiki, and became the foundation of the clerk-related content of this wiki. At this point, the LDSClerks wiki is essentially dormant and its content is no longer actively maintained. Clerks should look to the LDSTech wiki for updated content.
