This "How To" is applicable to the latest Gospel Library release available (2.1).
Gospel Library is comprised of two parts, a Content Catalog and the actual Downloaded Content.
- Content Catalog - The content catalog is downloaded when the application is first run. It contains a listing of all the books, organized into folders, that are available for download. It is important that the catalog be updated for new content to be visible by tapping the refresh button to the right of the 'Download All' and 'Remove All' buttons.
- Downloaded Content - No content is downloaded and installed on the device by default. You must select the content that you would like to have available on the device. Once content has been downloaded you can view it by selecting the book and navigating to the chapter or article you wish to view. Downloaded content can be indexed and then searched.
To download a particular book navigate to the folder containing the book and then tap on the book name. Then tap the 'Download' button in the window that appears.
To download all content in a folder navigate to the folder that contains the books you wish to download. Tap on the 'Download All' button in the top left of the application. The tap the 'Yes, Download All' button in the window that apears. If the 'Download All' button is disabled then you may need to navigate further into the folder structure to enable it.
General navigation is quite simple by selecting Folders to find Books. However, we want to mention the application menu that has important functionality. There are a few different ways of accessing menu options depending upon you device.
Returning to the Home page can be done by tapping the Angel Moroni icon in the top left corner or by selecting Menu -> Home.
Only content that is downloaded to the device and has been indexed can be searched.
Content must be indexed for it to be searched. Indexing happens automatically but can take some time. After downloading content we recommend opening the application, plugging the device in to charge and letting it sit overnight for indexing to complete. In Menu -> Settings there is a 'Background Indexing' section that enables you to tweek the setting to better suit your use of the device.
Open Search by selecting the device search button (may look like a magnifying glass) or by selecting Menu -> Search. Type in the search text and tap in the search button to the right.
