Giving feedback (LDS Music for iOS)

Our goal is to make LDS Music for iOS as useful and enjoyable as possible.
We are in constant need of feedback from anyone who wants to help out.

How to give feedback

Giving feedback to the LDS Music for iOS team is a two-step process:

  1. Triple-tap on the screen with two fingers and a screenshot of the app will be attached to an email pre-addressed to us.
  2. Describe the problem in the email and send it.

All feedback will be sent directly to our JIRA issue tracking system and reviewed by the development team.

You can also send an message directly to ldsmusic@ldschurch.org or to the Google discussion group.

What should I report?

  • Typos in the content (collection titles, text of hymns, incorrect punctuation)
  • Localization problems (mistranslated buttons, menus, or titles)
  • Bugs in the program (menus not working, titles not displaying, app crashing, etc.)
  • Any other suggestions or comments

Notes for developers and content wranglers

Feedback that is emailed from within the app automatically creates a JIRA issue titled "Feedback". From there it can be commented on, discussed, assigned, and kept track of until the work relating to it has been completed. The attached screenshot and footer are a helpful reference to go along with the user's description.

The idea of the footer is to extract any additional data about the Application state that will help the people receiving the report. At present it includes the App version, iOS version, device type, and a list of the names of the viewControllers on the navigation controllers in the app, including the language setting for the tabBarController. As you add features to the app, you should enhance this code to include any specific data that would help when getting feedback from the new view.

Here is an example of the footer that's automatically attached to feedback emails:

LDS Music Staging 1.5 (build 1239)
iOS 6.1.3 on iPhone 4 (GSM)

Here is another example:
