Matthew and LDSmom, it's great to hear of your interest to serve as writers. Can you email me and let me know more about yourselves? Here's my contact info: http://tech.lds.org/wiki/User:Johnsonth. I manage the news articles on the blog and would love to have some help. There's a ton of work to do. We need strong writers, editors, and information gatherers.

I'd like to help, I'm a SharePoint Administrator. Is there a need for solutions development or implementation?

# Tom Jonson 2012-01-02 16:29
I don't think we have any SharePoint projects right now. Sorry. Maybe there will be some in the future, though. There are lots of other ways to help out, though. Send an email to ldstech-mission@ldschur ch.org to ask for more info.

# Angie 2012-01-03 21:21
Thanks Tom, I will do.

# Ginger Conrad 2012-01-02 18:58
I have been a teacher for many years and will retire in a few months. If you still need help with writing, I would love to be of service. I've blogged for about 4 years about homemaking, schooling, and the gospel. I'm not sure what you need, but I might fill your bill. Let's talk.

# Tom Johnson 2012-01-04 09:45
Ginger, we would be glad for your service as a writer for LDSTech. I head up most of the writing efforts. Let's chat more via email. Maybe I could give you a sample article to write, and then you could decide if it's a good fit. My email is johnsonth@ldsch urch.org. Can you contact me there?

# Vulcain yengo 2012-01-03 04:07
For the Lord, I am always ready to serve. I am currently an international student at Brigham Young University Hawaii. My field of study is Supply Chain with emphasis on project management.

I like writing and participating in project, so how can I be of help?

For the Lord I am ready to serve.

# Tom Johnson 2012-01-04 09:45
Vulcain, the best way to help out would be to join a project (click the Projects tab on the top nav menu) and join a project. Then contact the project and ask how you could help out.

Guido, visit the Vineyard to look for opportunities to translate. They have a good system for translator volunteers. Thanks,

Tom

Do you have any need for Pen testing? I'm going to be taking the CEH test on Monday and will need the experience.

If you're interested in finding out more information about opportunities to serve as a Church technology service missionary, send an email to ldstech-mission@ldschur ch.org with the question. I'm not sure if we are set up yet to go international.

# Jonathan Paulo Ferreira Prieto 2012-02-25 20:31
Tom, Perhaps it would best to send an email as you've been saying, but I have just a small and simple question... we know the period but what's the weekly journey, talking (talking about hours)?

I'm a Web Designer and maybe there's some that I can do to help.

# Tom Johnson 2012-02-25 22:23
Jonathan, Church service missionaries can decide how many hours they will serve each week. Usually it is around 20 to 40 hours, though in some cases it can be as low as 10. I know some departments could really use someone with your skills to convert wireframes to HTML. If you're interested, be sure to apply.

Question
What is your current position at the Church and what are your responsibilitie s?

Answer
I am the product manager over the FamilySearch Research Wiki and the Family History Library as well as the new FamilySearch’s interface with Membership and Statistical Records. This involves gathering user requirements, writing user stories for engineers, and prioritizing stories.

I am not retired but am currently a Project Management Practitioner and have experience mainly with the PRINCE2 methodology. However, I can adapt to most methodologies and would be willing to put some time in as missionary every week 10-20 hours. I am currently an IT Service Delivery Manager in New Zealand and am 25. Are non-retirees welcome to serve through this new missionary initiative?

We currently are only able to manage English speaking service missionaries. There could be a time in the future we could handle other languages, but we are unable to today. Thank you.
