Callings / Organization chart for bishopric

#1

Post by abm33 »

Does anyone know of a software program or app that could use the MLS callings list and provide a visual tool (think organizational chart) for callings? I'm looking for something akin to the old magnet boards where every position is shown, and every member has his or her own magnet to move around as we discuss potential changes. I'd like to be able to see what callings are open, what members are without callings, and be able to track changes.

Any ideas? If it doesn't exist, is there a chance that the church would soon develop a similar capability for MLS or LDS tools? It seems like the database is there with both of those applications, but the user interface would be the development project.

If MLS is being propery maintained, such as removing individuals from callings instead of removing the whole line when a release is made but the position is not filled. Then all this information is available using MLS reports.

I would like to add my voice to encourage the eventual development of this. I was a clerk in a ward where I was asked to take all the data from MLS and put it into an org chart with the date that they had been called to that position. This was in a singles ward. You can imagine how much effort was put into maintaining this list. The problem was that if I had not done it, then the bishopric would have been doing it taking time away from other important things.

All we can do is discuss this in these forums. There is little chance any discussion here will have any influence on whether a new application or update to an existing application is made. We doubt that those who make these kinds of decisions even frequent these forums.
