Removing Glossary pages from Help category

#1

Post by RitcheyMT »

The Help category page states that the definition of the category is this: "articles related to using FamilySearch Wiki." We link to the Help category page from the Main Page, saying "To learn how to use the site, please visit the help page." With 65 entries, the Help category page is getting so populated that it is not effective as a topical list of articles that can help a new user learn how to use the site. So I began reviewing the page today to see what we might like to remove from this category. I was particularly interested in rooting out any groups of articles that might make a good subcategory.

What I found was the Glossary pages. They're all categorized under Help. However, they are not about using the site. So what I propose is to create a new Category:Glossary and list all these articles under that. And Category:Glossary will not be a subcategory of Help because it does not relate to the use of FamilySearch Wiki.

Lemme know if I'm crazy.

I have no opinion on this.

Thanks

I think the real question is where should the glossary go so that it's easy to find and use when needed? Looking under "help" seems a natural.

[thread=1088]This thread[/thread] seems related to his proposal...?

I see it as a separate issue. This thread is asking where should the Glossary be located. That thread is should the Glossary be used as a source for tip of the day. (I'm assuming that "Did you know" is a tip of the day feature rather then a different level of help.)
