MLS shows zero users, no one can log in

#1

Post by RussellBoone »

Aloha,

I opened MLS today and tried to log in, and it says that there are zero users for it. Other clerks in the building say they have a similar problem, so I assume it is local...

Suggestions?

I'd suggest the Wiki article Lost user names (MLS).
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.

Thank you for that suggestion, but for some reason my system doesn't have the MLS\data\units folder, the MLS\recover, or the various data folders for that matter.

Did you see the earlier instruction in that wiki article that said:
  • Windows XP: C:\Document and Settings\All Users\LDS Church\MLS
  • Windows 7: C:\ProgramData\LDS Church\MLS
Of those two options, are you able to locate the appropriate folder for your operating system?

If so, the shorthand "MLS\recover" means for Windows 7, C:\ProgramData\LDS Church\MLS\recover

Does that help?
Questions that can benefit the larger community should be asked in a public forum, not a private message.

By any chance, is your computer running Desktop 5.5? It will have a small blue-screen menu that displays for a few seconds between the computer's POST and the Windows start-up.

What version does MLS say when it starts?

The reason I ask, is if someone did a restore from that blue menu, they could have completely wiped out your MLS install. Possibly even the backups.

Otherwise, are you looking in the right place? It's different depending on the version of Windows. Note for Win7 it's "ProgramData", not "Program Files".
