Additional Standard Callings for Out of Ward Leadership

#1

Post by rbeaslin »

In my area, there are a number of my members that are called to Stakes and Wards for College and Universitys. Would it be possible to have a standard calling in the Other Callings section for "Out of Ward Bishop, Out of Ward Bishopric, Out of Stake High Council", or something like that. I also have ward members serving on Church Leadership Boards, and it would be nice to have that also as a non-custom Calling.

Is there a way to get these added?

Thanks

What would the purpose in adding them as a standard calling? The general reason for standard callings is so that rights and privleges for on-line resources can be set. In this case, those rights as set by the callings in the other unit. I don't see anything to be gained by having a standard calling in the home ward.

If anything, what needs to happen is the out of unit calling be communicated back to the home ward. Is that not happening?

In MLS the only out of unit callings that display are stake callings. In Clerk Resources they display all the out of unit callings the ward members have in any other Stakes/Districts/Wards/Branches.

Those will show in Clerk Resources

I have discussed this before with Clerk Resources (at least for Mission Presidents/Temple Presidents). I think expanding it to include these types of positions would make sense too.

Assuming that MLS will not be phased out anytime soon, it would be nice to add that feature to MLS as well.

I see the purpose you state for having the privileges assigned. That does make sense to me. My goal was to have them show organizationally consistent instead of me having to add a custom calling like "BYU Bishop". Maybe it's not something that's not necessary.

Have you looked at how it is done in Clerk Resources? It does show the standard calling and the unit they are serving in.
