Windows 8 and office 2013.

Does anyone know if the new computers coming from the FM group will have windows 7 or windows 8 on them? I am referring to the computers that swap out the 5 year old computers.

If they do have windows 8 is MLS compatible? What about Sophos?

If there is anyway the new computers could have touch screens to go along with windows 8 that would be greatly appreciated.

Also just a heads up that office 2013 requires either windows 7 or windows 8. I know most use open office alternative but for those that have to have Microsoft office if you are upgrading to 2013 make sure you have win7 or win8.

It is way too soon after the release of Windows 8 to even think there will be anything with Windows 8 shipping for administrative computers within the next year. It could even be longer. It was two years, or a little more, after the release of Windows 7 before it began to be included on administrative computers. Part of the delay after release has to do with filling existing contracts and negotiations for future contracts. Other issues are testing of compatibility with the approved software such as MLS and whatever the security software will be. Windows 7 end of service life has not yet been determined. That may play in the decision to migrate to Windows 8.

Units are discouraged from expending tithing funds on office suite software such as MS Office. This would include paid upgrades from earlier purchased releases. Instead, LibreOffice is recommended at no cost.
