Another Videonics Question

#1

Post by pingsteve »

Hi All,

I just picked up a Videonics MX DV Pro mixer on eBay. Unfortunately when I fire it up, I just see red and green dots on the screen. This is true for both preview and video out.

I've tried a factory reset, but even the internal demos just show the red / green dots - along with the occasional red / blue / white bars moving across the screen.

I noticed that it has what appears to be an aftermarket power supply. Any chance that's the problem?

I've already contacted the seller, but I'm just curious if anyone here has seen similar behavior. This was sold as being fully functional, which is obviously not the case.

I figured I'd update this with the latest information, just in case someone runs into a similar problem in the future. I contacted a company that specializes in the repair of these mixers and they indicated that they have seen this before, and it would cost ~$350 to repair -- assuming they actually can repair it.

Apparently the fix requires re-soldering all connections and replacing some capacitors.

Hopefully the seller will make things right.
