iOS Home Teaching Reporting

#1

Post by eric.pastuer »

It would be great if LDS Tools could incorporate:
  1. Home Teaching/Visiting Teaching Detals (So you know who you're home teaching and with whom)
  2. Show who your home teachers are so you know who to contact if they aren't coming.
  3. Creating a method through which this can all be reported online, this can also create more accurate results since sometimes home teaching district leaders don't do their jobs the best.

[Moderator note: This thread was split from the iOS Passbook Integration thread as they address different topics. Please adhere to the Code of Conduct and post only one topic per thread.]

The request for home teaching and visiting teaching applications has been discussed in many other threads. The issue that needs to be resolved before this can go forward is the storage of home teaching and visiting teaching data on Church servers. Currently HT/VT data only resides on the local MLS.

What would it take to make that happen?

What would that take to happen? I'm new to this so please forgive me, but I'm guessing that the biggest difficulty would be the update to MLS to send the information when processing a batch? Not that the software change is difficult, but rather propagation of the changes to all 500,000 devices? Especially those stuck on awful dial up?

It is not only MLS that has to be updated to transmit the data but there would also have to be integration with a current database or a new one created. Whatever the issues, there is nothing we can do but wait.

And that data would have to be exposed in the API that LDS Tools use. So that's about 3 projects that need to happen before the LDS Tools itself can be made to do that.
