FHC computers

#1

Post by rolandc »

Do new computers have to come from the FHC department? if not

Can funds in the local FHC account be used to buy computers locally?

What do the computers from FHC cost?

our FHC director has a lot on her plate right now with ailing husband and mother. I do not wish to ask her.

This is a very interesting question. Currently FHC's are implementing an 'all church owned' computer deployment happening over the years 2012 - 2014. They are going FHC by FHC and upgrading based on sites that are Busy, and used down to the not-very-busy and not-very-used sites, that includes a printer as well. Once you have transitioned there is no accepting of donations or purchasing new equipment by Stakes.

If your site has not transitioned, then you are stuck not knowing anything about when your site will transition, If you purchase new equipment, it is as likely as not that you will receive brand-new or near-new computers auto-shipped from SLC the following month, as it is you will receive them in 2014. I am stuck in a similar situation with 5 FHC's and have no way of knowing when, Area FHC has no idea, Stake Presidents have no idea, HC over Family/Temple has no idea, and Directors have no idea.

What I have done is created requests for 'cascaded' computers to be sent to supplement the 12 year old computers I have in the FHC's currently. If you log into FamilySearch.org (Family Search - Login) --> you can update your profile to include Stake Technology Specialist, or Director (my suggestion) and in the Help area there is a list of documents you can access. Look for a Software Hardware order form

you might review this presentation as well describing the new program
