Sony DCR-SX45 Camera - Still Available?

#1

Post by sphester »

Hi All

Does anyone know if the Sony DCRSX45 is still available via LDS store?

When I logged into the store i could not find it only the Sony EVI-D70 Camera .

I did wonder if this was an issue with my privileges as I was once a ward clerk and also the stake technology specialist ( assistant stake clerk ) but I've since been released as ward clerk and now I'm not able to look at the local unit material section of lds store.

I likewise can't find the webcast communicator

Thanks

I've noticed the same thing. As "only" a STS, I can't see what is available that is pertinent to my calling. I can understand if I can't order it, but I'd like to know what is available so I don't run out and buy something non-standard locally at a higher price.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

With an Assistant Stake Clerk calling, I can see the Sony DCR-SX45 camera is available (item #08368000) and also the Webcast Communicator (item 08150952).

Yes, I agree they should make more things visible, even if you are not allow to directly purchase them. For example, it's a bit absurd for an STS not to be able to see all 18 items listed under "Electronic Equipment". (Perhaps there's even more that *I* can't see.)

Next question whats the best camera for the job of a webcast i not the EVI-D70 is much more expensive does this mean i'll get better images than the DCR-SX45.

I'm also assuming i can use the SX45 with the webcast communicator and given we are in the UK will LDS store send us a PAL version or a NTSC version.

THanks

Rights for the STS to see the equipment is being worked on and should be restored shortly.

Besides the manual pan/tilt/zoom, the biggest difference I see is the 1/8" sensor on the DCR-SX45 vs. the 1/4" sensor on the EVI-D70. A larger sensor will usually provide sharper images in lower light.

Ah, good question. I have no experience to know if they will pick up on your UK address and automatically send you a PAL version. If you go that route, I would make certain they know which version you need.

What's the likely lead time on getting a webcast communicator and the camera from LDS store?
