Import Ward Roster into Email Contacts or Groups

I had a request today from someone wanting to download their ward list (& sub-groups) into their gmail account.

I told them to login to lds.org, export ward member list to .csv, edit the .csv for only the names they want, make sure that it's still a properly formatted .csv, go to GMail | Contacts | Import, etc... Needless to say, this is functional, but not easy for non-techies.

What would be the possibility of constructing a GMail (or hotmail, etc.) conduit that would export church contacts directly to the GMail platform? Ideally, this would be both as individual contacts or as a group. I'm thinking something similar to Facebook's "import your contacts" function.

I didn't see this in the Forums, so I don't know if someone's already done this. If so, could you point me to it?
