Printing finance reports

#1

Post by Newt »

I'm not sure what to do, I can't print out any of my finance reports from MLS. I can print form other tabs in MLS but not from finance statments. This brings a question to mind: what will happen when we do donations today and we can't print any of the reports, for the bank or our records. What do we do? How do I check out and repair this printing problem? I'm not sure if this is even the right thread to be asking in. I can print from other programs on the computer. I can even print from my I pad to the printer.

thanks

I find it unusual that you can print from other areas of MLS but not finance reports and finance statements. What particular finance reports can you not print? By finance statements are you talking about Unit Financial Statements (UFS)? UFS documents are PDF documents. Any printing problems with those but not other areas of MLS would indicate a PDF print driver issue. Try reinstalling your PDF print driver. I cannot explain why there would be any print problems for finance reports.

When MLS exhibits anomalous behavior and I cannot identify the specific cause, my first course of action is to do a complete install of MLS on top of the current installation. This will correct many issues and is the simplest general corrective action. If reinstalling your PDF print driver or doing a complete install of MLS does not correct the print problem then you may need to contact LUS.

I have tried to print our monthly CUBS statment and 2 IROPS statments. MLS says that the doc has printed, but the printer pops up and tells me that the print job failed to print. I'm not sure where to get a PDF driver to reinstall, so I think I'll go ahead and try to do a install of MLS.

Thanks.

Well now I have done a reinstall of MLS, and that did not make any difference to my trying to print these documents.
I'm not sure where to ask for help now. Any ideas on who to contact, is this a bug in MLS? Who do I contact and how?
I have been checking and updating the windows updates, it seems that all updates are done and windows is upto date.

Thanks

It doesn't sound like an MLS bug, since many people (including me) can print reports from the Finance tab just fine. It must have something to do with your system.

You should contact your stake clerk and/or stake technology specialist for assistance; if you still have problems, one you should contact Local Unit Support tomorrow.
Questions that can benefit the larger community should be asked in a public forum, not a private message.

I'd check to see if Adobe Acrobat Reader is installed and working properly. See if you can find a PDF file and double-click on it to open it.

When the print dialog comes up for the statements, for me it would default to A4 paper size. I didn't every have a problem even if I printed without changing it to letter, but it might be worth checking if you are setting the paper size to letter before you print.

Any new thoughts on this thread? My ward is having this same issue. We can print from other areas of MLS as well as any app on the machine but the finance printing spools to the print queue then disappears with nothing printing and no errors. (the name in the print queue is java-printing) Using CutePDF works and that PDF prints fine.
I haven't tried the MLS install yet, but will probably do that before Sunday unless I find other options.
