How long between MLS and LDS.org updates?

#1

Post by davidesidwell »

We have recently updated our MLS with new callings, but those callings have not appeared on lds.org or in LDS Tools yet, though it's been over a week. We have used the "Send/Receive Changes" tool in MLS, but is there something more we need to do to get these callings updated in all the right places?

For most callings, they should appear in the Ward Leaders section of the Directory on LDS.org in a matter of minutes (certainly within an hour) after the Send/Receive in MLS. There are some callings that are entered at the stake level that require manual approval (bishop, ward clerk, stake clerk, etc.), but those are rare.

Some things to be aware of:
  • Only standard callings appear on LDS Tools, and appear in the expected places in the Directory of LDS.org. Make sure you're not using custom callings where standard callings are available.
  • Login to CDOL and check to see if the callings appear there; if they're not in CDOL, you definitely won't see them anywhere else.
  • Note that access rights for Church websites associated with a calling take substantially longer to be processed (a day or more).

Very helpful. Thanks!

It also helps to update the app on my iPad.

I don't think there is a specific "trigger" beyond send/receive that you can pull. Outside of that, there is just a bit of patience and a black-box that does the magic. After a week, I'm surprised they aren't synched yet.

They must have fixed this, I am seeing custom callings in the iOS 2.0.3 version.

Thanks for the correction -- I guess I was living in the past!
