Does headquarters accept ward boundary maps sent electronically as kml files?
Does anyone know if the boundary committee accepts KML files in lieu of a hardcopy map with proposed boundaries marked by hand? Seeing as how they make KML files available on CDOL, I would think this would save them a step.

Using KML/KMZ files in a proposal
It is not part of the standard proceedure but we do accept KML/KMZ files for proposals. They should be sent in with the proposal. One thing to keep in mind is not to change the 'exterior' boundary because that would invovle another stake not listed in the proposal. That would hold up your proposal. We allow this option for those who prefer to work digitally and understand the tools used to edit KML files.
As an FYI, KMZ files can now be downloaded via the new release of LDS Maps. You need to logon to maps, select the 'Map Apps' button and then the 'Unit Boundary Maps'. Click on the Review Cart button and download. This option is not available to all users. It is dependeant upon your role (calling).

One follow up question: In our stake there are some relatively minor deviations between the boundaries on LDS Maps and the intended boundaries (which are based on school district boundaries). This is especially true in some of our rural units. Is there an informal process for truing up these boundaries, or do we need to go through the same rigorous review process with the boundaries committee?
