We had a new bishop called on Sunday and I wanted to order new envelopes, but when we change the callings in the ward MLS, it said it was a temp solution.
So, do we need to wait until the stake has input the new bishops information before one can order new envelopes, or can we call down to the DC and order the envelopes that are needed?
Just curious.

Until the stake enters the bishop in stake MLS (using a Ward LUCR), the bishop will not appear in CDOL. I don't know whether Distribution Services relies on CDOL to determine who the bishop is, or if they have some other source for verifying information about the new bishop.
But there are many good reasons why the stake should be updating this information for the new bishop immediately. Until they do that, he has no access to Leader Resources on LDS.org, or the Missionary Recommendation System, or many other online systems. There's a bit of a delay after they submit the request, since it has to be verified by a live person before it becomes effective in CDOL, which is all the more reason to get that submitted promptly.
Questions that can benefit the larger community should be asked in a public forum, not a private message.

The distribution center may not be up to date on the recent change. You may want to call to make sure who they have on record. You can also go online to the online store and see what address is being used to ship unit orders. If the new bishop's address is there then they have the change.gingus wrote:Great. Just checked to CODL. He is there. So, I can start ordering what it needed. Thanks again for the help.

I've discovered, at least for us, that it is a lot easier, quicker and the envelopes look a lot better if we print our own envelopes. We order blank donation envelopes and then with the help of a laser printer and envelope printing software we can put the bishop's name and address and a full zip+4 bar code and the print looks much nicer.
