I have not found how to broadcast emails using the new directory. Would someone give me an assist?

The directory permits sending a single e-mail to any of the listed groups in "Ward Leaders" and "Ward Organizations". If you would like to send a message to all the members of the Elders Quorum you would select "Ward Organizations", then "Elders", and then click the "Email all Elders" link just below the title "Elders".

Certain leaders have more groups to which they can send messages through the "Leader and Clerk Resources" in the Tools menu of LDS.org. For example the bishop can send a message to the entire ward.

Having someone in addition to the Bishop be able to broadcast to the entire ward would be useful. Based on my experience as Executive Secretary to 5 bishops they would not personally prepare such emails they would delegate it. For example announcing the death of a ward member and funeral services. Yes you could login as Bishop but that would not be too appropriate.

Since you can use the Directory to send a message to all Adults, that seems adequate for most communications. There's no reason to ask the bishop to use Clerk and Leader Resources.

I cannot confirm this, but, I believe the ward clerk can also send a message to the entire ward.

I can confirm that. As ward clerk I can send messages to just about every group of members you could think of including all adults and all members. There are in fact 20 different groups of members and 28 different groups of leaders (at both the Stake and Ward level).

Since your last post, there have been three posts. Rather than simply asking for "more info" it would be helpful if you would respond to those suggestions. Is there a reason they don't work for you? Are you unable to do those things? If so, what specific problems are you having? If you can do those things, but find them inadequate, what specifically makes them unsuitable for your needs?

It's best to continue the discussion in the forum -- that way everyone benefits from the discussion, not just one person.

I'm sorry to belabor the email question but I must be missing something. I do quite q few emails to all the ward but on the new directory I find(?) only mailings to groups no general broadcast that I can use.

On the Directory, there is no general broadcast feature. That's why you can't find it.

But as I mentioned earlier, there is a capability for sending a message to all adults. For just about every general broadcast I can imagine, it is sufficient to send it to all adults. You haven't mentioned what you think about that feature. Does it meet your needs?
