New Member Report

Post by jander04 »

MLS 2.7 has this great report called the new member report to track the progress of recent converts. It has fields for tracking lessons taught and for sacrament meetings attended. I haven't been able to find how to enter either of these pieces of information. Do you know where and how I enter these?

My understanding is that you have to have rights to Edit Membership information in MLS. With those rights, you can open the report and click on the "Add" link under the "Lessons Taught" and choose the lessons that have been completed. You can also select the number in the "Attendance" column and type the appropriate value. The Callings, Tithing, Endowment, and Priesthood fields update automatically when you enter the data in MLS.

Our Stake has the Ward Mission Leader fill out the information each month and give to the Clerk to enter so that it is updated monthly. (Some of our units update it that way weekly). This way, the Ward Mission Leader is in charge of the accuracy of the information but does not have access to editing membership records and information in MLS.

Thanks for your reply. I am the stake clerk, and I can't enter anything concerning a convert baptism into the stake system, and the test ward has no recent converts. I will have to work with one of the wards to see how it is done.

Thanks!

If you go into MLS and the new convert data information is missing. Just click on File, select request unit refresh data, and then select membership records. What happened is with the upgrade from the old version to MLS 2.7 it lost some information so triggering a refresh and transmitting will send a request to headquarters to refresh your local membership records. So once you do that you would just need to wait a couple of hours and then go back in and do another send/receive changes and from there the information in that report will then appear.

Jander04 was trying to edit Membership Information (New Member Report entries) as a Stake Clerk, using the Stake MLS. This cannot be done because the only membership information that can be updated is Temple Recommend information. A refresh of data will not solve this specific problem, but could be helpful for a ward MLS dataset that does not seem to have all of the information that should be present.

Does anyone have spreadsheet charts showing trends using "New Member Report" data or "Convert Detail" data from the Quarterly Report

Some of the charts maybe as follows:
A) "New Member Report" data
1) If 12 or older, has a calling or responsibility
2) If male and 12 or older, priesthood office
3) If male and 12 or older, age as compared to priesthood office
4) _______________

B) "Convert Detail" data from the Quarterly Report
1) Attended sacrament meeting at least once last month
2) If 12 or older, has a calling or responsibility
3) If male and 12 or older, priesthood office
4) Attended sacrament meeting and If male and 12 or older and priesthood office
5) _______________

Data from the "New Member Report" and Quarterly Report "Convert Detail" (and some other reports) can be captured as follows:
1) open the MLS report
2) click on a name in the report
3) hold down the Ctrl + Shift keys and press the "c" key
4) then open a spreadsheet click on the cell you want to paste to
5) then click on Edit > Paste and press enter (or Ctrl + V)
6) use spreadsheet paste defaults and click "OK"
