Why am I getting emails...

#1

Post by bradh »

Why am I getting emails everytime someone else joins or leaves a project? I have not received them until yesterday. I have received about 75 of them in the past 12 hours and they keep coming.

I have disabled "Receive Team Emails" under Projects, Profile for now. It would be great if you could suppress these types of emails specifically, and still receive Team Emails. Way too much noise.

You should only be getting emails for projects that you are a member of. The Local Unit Application Beta Testing project is getting a lot of activity recently, so if you are a member of that project, you'll be getting a lot of emails.

Did you recently join a project? Or have the project(s) you are a member of been stable until yesterday? Those are the most likely reasons why you started getting emails yesterday.

I have set up an email rule to send all the notifications to a folder, so I don't see them unless I choose to look at that folder.

I have not even been on LDSTech for weeks... until today. And the only reason I got on today was to see if I could turn of these notices. I've never received group member activity before yesterday. So I'm not sure why I would be getting them now.

I started getting these messages from every project I belong to. I just edited my profile to stop getting them. I'm thinking that something has go wackadoo on the email lists.

You are a member of the "Local Unit Application Beta Testing" project. I wouldn't be surprised if that project has been fairly dormant for a while. But just two days ago, the featured article on LDSTech was Newsletter, a New LDS.org Tool To Be Released into Beta Mid-February, which encouraged people to join the "Local Unit Application Beta Testing" project. Dozens of people responded to that request (I'm one of them), which generated dozens of emails.

I've been getting these emails for several months for the two projects I've been a long-time member of, so I don't see anything new, except for the extremely high traffic as many people have joined the Local Unit Application Beta Testing project.

Please be careful about using highly technical jargon such as "wackadoo" -- not everyone can understand such language.:D

This sounds like a good explanation. All the other group activity is from those cleaning up their project list. I just added a few of my own to the fray.

"Join and Drop" emails

#9

Post by howie021 »

I too have been getting WAY too many emails for my comfort. Can someone from LDSTech please explain why I have to get an email every time someone new signs up for a project or when someone drops out of a project? This is the majority of emails that have been coming into my inbox over the past day or two. I'm ready to drop out of all projects, sadly, if there is no way to turn off these "join and drop" emails. Is there a way to turn these off? :(

If you go into your profile under projects, you can uncheck "receive emails".
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.
