New post: Adding MLS Functionality to LDS.org

MLS functions are being added to LDS.org. Church leaders and clerks can now access records, reports, and other helpful resources from any computer connected to the Internet.

OUTSTANDING! I, as the ward clerk, had to supply a sustaining date on a position in our Ward History with the Stake Historian. I was thinking earlier that I would have to wait until next Sunday to be able to access MLS at the clerk's office. I saw your announcement today while looking at the Clerk Wiki and immediately tried it out. It works great and I was able to see (and could have printed out if I wanted all the information on this individual) the date of sustaining, sent an e-mail with the necessary info to the Stake Historian and we are done; all at my office computer.

THANKS!

This is a great upgrade and I was excited about it until I found that my calling as an assistant stake clerk took priority over my ward membership clerk calling and I cannot take advantage of this new feature. (I am posting this same lament on this and other related threads in the hope that the developers might see it. And i have also submitted it to "feedback.")

So this stuff has been available for the better part of a year at least. Are there new features being released besides the ones that have been there for a while now?

We are aware of the problem with having multiple callings and will be addressing it in the next month.

We will be releasing new content periodically throughout the year, with the goal to have the majority, if not all, of the membership functionality on the web by the end of the year.

It would be terribly helpful to know whether or not additional roles/positions will be added as well. It is absolutely fabulous that the content is growing, I love it... but getting access to Primary/RS/EQ/YM/YW/HPGL would be great... is that planned this year? That's all I'd really like to know.

I sent a note to Feedback on the problem of a stake calling having precedent over a ward calling and thus preventing me from utilizing the new editing feature on Clerk Resources. This is the response I received....bot too helpful..all they did was give me a link to this forum..

"You should be able to be set up to do this at both levels. Perhaps you'll need to call directly at the number provided in those links.

Good luck!"

OK, seriously, content will be updated this year, will access be expanded? or should I just keep telling the leaders in my stake, well, so far all I know is not in 2011 and not in 2012, maybe in 2013... we'll see, but in 2013 we'll probably see the financial data move, maybe it'll be 2014, who knows...just keep lining up at the clerk's office on Sunday, nobody else is going to use the computer then... oh wait... everyone wants to use the computer then.... right.....
