LDS Open Media Project
Concept & Purpose: establish a site for uploading and downloading media (like PowerPoint presentation, wav, MP3, jpeg, DV) related to Church History, lesson manuals, and Family Home evening ideas that will support home and church non-commercial users in creating slide presentations, DVDs, audio CDs and other productions.
Some concerns related to the site would include:
- Copyright, permissions to use, ownership
- submission guidelines, i.e., no living persons in photos or movies, appropriate content, size restrictions
- Submit Form - designed to include things like; ownership waver, name of location, date of picture or audio file, indexing subject(s), Google Earth link, lesson manual and lesson number
- Format - PowerPoint, presentation, Audio, DV etc.
- Review process before posting uploads to download site
- Attachment of “permission to use” guidelines and limitations
- General statements about the type and number of images on the site example; on ten images for each topic under church history will be saved to site.
Download Pages linked to Downloadable Images Index much like http://scriptures.lds.org/chphotos/contents but with 10 or 20 images of the best images per item not just one. This would help when doing a slide presentation or DVD with a sound file that needs more than 10 images or more to complete the sound file rather than having 1 image or several shots of the same exact image just zoomed in on.
I am sure that there are historical photos and audio files that could be included.
It would be very nice to have a “Related Sites” link on it that would include all church sites with images and audio files, church related sites like BYU, organizations supportive of the Church.
It would also be nice to request images and receive email notification when, where, if they became available.
