Turnaround Time for New Stake President in MLS

I am looking for some anecdotal information on how long it will take for headquarters to match the Unit Change Request paperwork returned by the general authority with the information submitted through MLS and make the change in CDOL.

For a stake president change, the CDOL folks will probably make the change the day they receive the paperwork. The variable is how long it takes them to get the paper.

Because they "work" most weekends, Monday is often a day off for general authorities who live in Salt Lake City. Assuming they are in the office on Tuesday, and assuming whatever interoffice system they use is efficient, the CDOL folks will get the paperwork Wednesday or Thursday and make the change. Or the office staff may walk the paperwork over on Tuesday and it gets put into CDOL a day or two sooner.

For area seventies who live away from Church headquarters, it may take a few days to mail in the information. I do not know if they are able to fax (or even pdf/e-mail) the paperwork in advance. That very well may happen nowadays. In any event, as soon as the paperwork arrives, the CDOL folks are on it as efficiently as I have ever seen any administrative office function.

Although I suppose, if there were a dozen stake presidency reorganizations in one week and the paperwork all arrived on Tuesday morning, some of them night not be in the system until after lunch.

As for MLS, don't forget that the headquarters computers all need to talk to each other at night, and then you have to do the appropriate send/receive.

And remember, all anecdotal.

By sending it through MLS it gets the information into CDOL (not visible). That lets the CDOL staff know that there is a change and they can ask for the paperwork too. Also they don't have to re-enter everything.

Not a common one, so not a lot of recent experience, but the one time I've seen it, it took 4 days (submitted Sunday, appeared in CDOL Thursday).

Please clarify for me. Our stake presidency was changed yesterday. Do our stake people have rights to change that in the stake MLS now or does that flow into MLS only after CHQ receives the paperwork? If our stake people have rights to do so but do not, will the change eventually get forced down to MLS via CHQ? Thank you!

We got a new stake presidency earlier this year. I know from experience that a stake clerk (or assistant) can submit a Stake Leader and Unit Change Request using stake MLS. This supplies the names and contact information to CDOL. But that information will not be visible in CDOL until it has been manually reviewed by someone at CHQ who will compare it with what the presiding authority at the stake conference submitted. Once that happens, the new information will become visible in CDOL and will flow back to the callings section of stake MLS.

I've never tried that route (we have always submitted the information from stake MLS via the LUCR), so I don't know the answer. I would guess that the answer is yes, but that's just a guess.
