Firewall with Windows 7

I just set up my first Windows 7 machine, and noticed that the Sophos installer did not install the firewall, only the AV. A search of previous threads shows that this is apparently the norm, but I didn't see any resolution. Are we to continue just using the Windows Firewall?

I also noticed that Windows Defender was installed and enabled; I have disabled it.
