Exporting Ward List to csv for use in ArcGIS

#1

Post by cameronbrown50 »

Just some feedback from a GIS Specialist/Ward Clerk...Can we get the exported csv file for the member list to have it's header fields rewritten so there are no hyphens. ArcMap won't load data with hyphens in their column names. Geocoding the member list off of lat/long is easy, but importing the csv is a pain when I have to go fix every column name to remove the hyphen.

If you open the CSV file in a text editor (such as Notepad), you can simply select the first line and use the editor's Replace feature to replace each hyphen with nothing. That should fix them all in one operation that will take about 15-30 seconds. I know it would be nice if you didn't have to do that step at all, but in the meantime, that technique should save you some time.

It's not a big issue...just a suggestion for the time when you have nothing to do and you're looking at some things to make the app more user friendly.

This is a community-supported forum. I'm just a clerk who uses LDS Maps on occasion -- from your response it appears that you think I have something to do with the Maps development process, but I do not.

You can't depend on anyone who works on the Maps project seeing this forum post. If you'd like to be sure that someone sees it, use the Submit Feedback link on the bottom of the lds.org home page.
