Private calendar not visible

#1

Post by 2gerolyn »

I created a private calendar and can't see any of my postings. When I check the box to bring it up I only see myriads of "private event". When I click on the event, I get a blank page.

Did you subscribe to the calendar that you created? Does it appear in the list of calendars on the main calendar view?

This calendar shows (on my month view calendar on the left side) under "subscribed calendars"; it shows as "active" when I click on the "calendars" tab; but it doesn't show on the list when I click on the "subscriptions" tab. What am I doing wrong?

On the Subscriptions tab, are you making sure that you are looking at the right list? There are three: ward calendars, stake calendars, and all calendars. The simplest way to find it is to choose "All Calendars."

Another thing to check is on the Calendars tab, edit your private calendar and make sure that you are at least a viewer for that calendar. By default, when you create a private calendar, you are both an editor and viewer, but that can be modified after the calendar is created. But then again, if you're not at least a viewer, you shouldn't see it in some of those other places, so that's probably not it.

I chose "All Calendars"; checked to see if my calling as Stake Building Specialist was there...and it is...to view and edit...I even added myself by my name and refreshed the calendar...but I still can't see the events on that calendar.

I noticed 53 people have viewed this post. Is anyone else having this problem? If anyone has found a way to resolve this...I am open to any suggestions. This is my Stake President's calendar and I need to have access to it.

There has been very little discussion about private calendars. This is the first we have heard anyone report any issues since the release of v2. It would be good to hear from others who have private calendars to report whether they have experienced any issues following the release.

I use 2 private calendars in my stake. They also appear in my Calendars tab but do not appear on my subscriptions tab. This makes sense to me, as you should not be able to subscribe to a private calendar - you have to be invited to view/edit it. If you are not on the list (by name or by calling) you cannot view it.

The location to edit this once the calendar has been created is clicking on the hyperlinked name of the calendar on the Settings > Calendar tab. If you cannot get in to edit it, you will likely need another editor to add you back to the list. If you are listed but still get a blank page, it sounds like you might have a bug. My private calendars appear to be working fine. Clicking on an event brings up a pop-up that displays the event details.

This leads me to one browser-setting question - is your browser blocking popups or do you have a third party popup blocker installed? Verify that these are disabled on lds.org and try again.
