Problem accessing Premium Family History Websites via www.fhc.familysearch.org
Hi All
Very new to the Stake tech forums and I'm new to the calling also.
I have a PC that is having trouble getting to Premim Family History Websites (Centre Access Only) via http://www.fhc.familysearch.org
When we click on the link we keep getting asked to select a digital certificate but none are shown in the popup window and if we click on we just get a connection refused message. See attached screen shots.
Does anyone have any ideas
Many thanks
Simon

To start with, you need to have LANDesk installed on that machine. It should take care of the certificate and proxy settings that need to be done. Note, you should LANDesk only on church owned machines in a officially sanctioned (as opposed to locally sanctioned) FHC.

If you have access to CDOL, you can check that way. Or, you can ask for the FHC unit number. It's a number separate from the Ward or Stake.sphester wrote:How would I find out if the FHC is a locally sanctioned or officially sanctioned centre i just know its a FHC in my stake.

LANDesk seems to "disconnect" and fail to update from time to time. If you go to remote.familysearch.org, you'll find the tools to fix it.
But first, you might check that the date on the computer is correct. Perhaps the certificate "expired" too soon due to a wrong date.

A fast way to find out of your PC's clock is up to date is to hover over the Sophos icon that is in your system tray if LANDesk is installed and Sophos is also installed, Sophos' icon is a blue brick 'U'. When you hover over that, the date last updated will show, which is usually soon after you boot up, and it shows when it was last updated, in a date and time format.
Another note on FHC unit numbers, they are usually a 7-digit number, as opposed to six-digit numbers for wards and stakes.

My understanding is that FHCs have a unit number that starts with a "3" or a "4". Not sure if it's a rule or just common.

Church Directory of Leaders. Found at cdol.lds.org. If you're a stake technology specialist, you should have access to it (assuming your calling has been properly recorded by the stake in it's MLS.)

At one time I believe they tried to follow some 'rules', but it was all manual. Now new unit numbers are generated on demand and there isn't any tie to unit type.RussellHltn wrote:My understanding is that FHCs have a unit number that starts with a "3" or a "4".
