Ability to Edit Ward Member E-mail Addresses in the Directory at Home

#1

Post by shspackman »

I am a ward website administrator. I was added to MLS with the title that had a "star" by it. Yet, I am still unable to edit member emails and phone records. The only profile that I can edit is my own. What am I and the ward clerk doing wrong?

You may need to wait. Changes recorded in MLS can take up to 48 hours to get to the other systems.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.

Also have you done a send/receive from MLS? If so then as Russell puts it, it could take some time. I am able to update phone and email addresses for anyone in the stake.

Have the ward clerk check your ward's listing at cdol.lds.org. Have him search for your ward and then click "(Show All Positions)" then click "Other Callings" to see if you are listed and that your name and calling show up in black.

One other thing to check: Make sure you're logging in with your own account and not that of a spouse. One way to do that is after logging in to the main lds.org site, check the "Welcome <name>" at the top of the screen.

You are in CDOL correctly, so the next thing to check is to see if it made it to the authorization system that the directory uses. After you are signed in go to https://lds.org/header and look for the policy-ldspositions: you should see p1559/7u235016/5u518557/
If you see something different then you will need to contact LUS and have them figure out why your position hasn't synced.

All number match exactly but all I can do is approve pictures. Any thoughts on what to do next? My work is backing up. Thanks in advance.

Ward Web Admins don't have rights to edit household profiles. They can only view opted-out info and manage photos.

On the ward level, only Clerks (including Assts.) and Bishopric members can edit profiles.

A directory administrator approves photos that members upload, can upload and manage photos on behalf of members, can change opt-in/opt-out settings, and can change phone numbers and e-mail address information.

Under "Ward" website administrator is listed.

Did this change recently?

I assume your quoting that from somewhere. I do find this:
Edit Household and Individual Information for Members
As authorized by members, administrators can upload and edit photos, e-mail addresses, and phone numbers on behalf of members of their ward. Administrators can also choose to make a profile private (such as when members request that their contact information not be visible to others).

To edit a member's profile:

1.Click the household name to view their information.
2.Click Edit Profile.
3.To make adjustments to the contact information, change the phone or e-mail addresses in the appropriate fields.
4.To hide the profile from other members, clear the Allow authenticated members check box at the top.
5.Click Save Changes.
So according to the documentation, you should be able to.
