Ordering an Additional Handbook 1
Anyone know how to order an additional (paperback) Handbook 1?

It's not easy, since the Church is very careful about distributing Handbook 1. The bishop or stake president needs to call Distribution Services and make a really good argument. If the request is for an additional Handbook 1 beyond the official allocation that was sent out last year, the request will most likely be denied -- the official allocation is almost always deemed to be adequate. If somehow one of the books was inadvertently destroyed (e.g., the second counselor's house burned down), you'll probably get a new one.AndrewScivally wrote:Anyone know how to order an additional (paperback) Handbook 1?

Just another thought: I honestly haven't cracked open the physical copy that we share as clerks for a while. I've found it's much easier to randomly access and search it from the leader portal at http://lds.org/leader. It's under Resources -> Church Handbooks.

Well, if we can't even get food order forms from store.lds.org, I highly doubt we'll be able to get the Handbook there.

The reference for this is what? Is it stated in Handbook1? I don't have one in front of me to check.crislapi wrote:Only the stake president can order Handbook 1.

Have you tried finding your answer on the ChurchofJesusChrist.org Help Center or Tech Wiki?

No reference (despite our best wishes, not every procedure is documented), just experience. Called the DC as the stake clerk to try to order one recently to replace one that was lost and was informed that only the SP can order them. He called and ordered one with no problem.jdlessley wrote:The reference for this is what? Is it stated in Handbook1? I don't have one in front of me to check.

Were you trying to replace one for the stake, or for a ward? It's my understanding that only the stake president can call to replace one of the stake's copies, but a bishop can call to replace one of his ward's copies. And no, I don't have any official reference, but I don't believe there is an official reference for this particular policy.crislapi wrote:No reference (despite our best wishes, not every procedure is documented), just experience.
