Portions of online lesson manuals not displaying at new LDS.org site

#1

Post by jenny_smith »

Portions of the lesson manuals are not displaying on the new lesson manuals section of LDS.org. Compare

http://lds.org/manual/young-women-manua ... h?lang=eng

with

http://library.lds.org/nxt/gateway.dll/ ... 0teach.htm

The section missing on this lesson is the four case studies.

It doesn't appear to be a stylesheet issue, so this problem is being caused on the backend somewhere, likely when the text was imported. Perhaps it was caused by the italicized headers or something when the content was added to the db.

The case studies are present in the PDF version taken directly from the original lesson manuals here:
http://lds.org/bc/content/shared/conten ... ach_09.pdf

but not present in the printable version generated from the online display version.

If you haven't done so, use the Submit Feedback link on the page of your first link to report the issue. This is the best chance of getting the issue before the development team.

As I noted in another response to you, you need to use the lds.org Feedback link to make sure the right people see your reports. You're certainly welcome to post here in order to have a community discussion (others can validate your experience, perhaps shedding additional light on the issue), but the Feedback link is the official reporting channel.
Questions that can benefit the larger community should be asked in a public forum, not a private message.

Canned responses from feedback

Post by jenny_smith »

Canned responses are the only result of using the feedback form, which doesn't give me confidence that issues are actually reported to staff. Additionally, there's no reasonable follow up: "yeah, we fixed that".

I reported stylesheet display and accessibility issues with the old lds.org for years with no result.

I will use the form this time, but don't count on it again unless the response improves.

Given the shear number of feedback items that are received it would literally take an army of staff to respond to every single feedback item that is received. (Just to give a little perspective, almost 6,500 items have of feedback have been received in the last 30 days which equates to over 200/day.)

However, all of the feedback is forwarded to correct person who is over the appropriate section of LDS.org. They then must fit feature requests/bug fixes into the overall roadmap/timeline of the site.

We are aware of this problem and are working to correct it. There have been several others that have also mentioned this via Feedback.

thanks!
