How long does it take for a church check to be "cleared"?

Recently wrote out a check to a sister who needed Primary reimbursement. She deposited check to her checking account and the funds have not yet been deposited to her account. I checked on MLS and the check is listed as "sent". When will the check be listed as cleared? I'm guessing that is when she will be then receiving the funds in her account....

It really depends on the bank in which she deposited the check, their check deposit rules, and the amount of the check. Typical times range from three hours to as much as three to five business days. Federal Reserve Board Regulation CC gives banks the discretion to put much longer holds on certain types of checks. Banks will claim it is for fraud prevention and preventing identity theft. It is not uncommon for banks to hold checks for up to eleven business days for high risk checks. If she has any questions why the check does not clear in the time specified in her bank's check deposit disclosure then she should contact them for an explanation.

She should check with her bank and make sure the deposit actually got credited to her account. Unless it was a large check (I think that means $1,500, but don't quote me), it should have posted to her account in one banking day. Banking rules govern this. It has nothing to do with MLS or how the Church processes the check.

Even though I get a deposit receipt slip, my bank fails to actually post deposits to my account on a frighteningly regular basis. When I call them, they go, "Oh, yeah, that should be there," and then they credit my account. But that is an issue for another life.
