LDS Tools Lists Feature Request

#1

Post by dotson98 »

I have a feature request - I use LDS tools all of the time. I would like to create lists, but have the option to do so based on calling, sort of like the new calendaring system on the stake/ward websites.

For my calling (Stake YM Secretary), it would be nice to be able to create a list of Ward YM Presidents, instead of having to add the ppl. It seems that there is a lot of turn-over and with the disparate systems I have to use (email, LDS Tools, etc), I've got a lot of places to manage lists. Having the option to create my lists by calling would eliminate the turn-over issue.

The next request would be to sync the lists to my LDS Account. Then I won't lose them.

Once they are synced (queue the next feature request), I would like to be able to easily communicate with the ppl on the list. For example, with my list on the iPhone, I can send an email to the list members. How can I get that functionality on my PC? I am currently using and email distribution group, which I have to manage separately. Blech.

What do you all think?

That sounds like a good request for the messaging site to allow users to save custom groups. That would then make a central repo where they could be synced to/from.

I would recommend submitting it as feedback (at lds.org since messaging doesn't have the standard footer with the feedback link).

I didn't know anything about the messaging site. That doesn't seem to pop up on the radar anywhere? Took a look at it and it would seem to do the trick. Though the new Directory site may be a better place - if the custom list showed up there, then I could easily click the link that enables emailing: "Email all Ward YM Presidents".

There is a link to it from the leader and clerk resources, but it is accessible to all members (only some callings can email members instead of leaders).

Are there any plans to add the STS to the list of callings for those who can Email to the stake membership?
As an Asst. Stake Clerk and Technology Specialist, I do not have that ability under the new lds directory (Leader and Clerk Resources).
Have you read the Code of Conduct?

Would it be possible to get a list of such callings that can email the membership? Is one of them an "assignable" calling such as a "Communication Specialist" to provide some degree of delegation of that function?
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.

I don't know what the list is, but I would guess that it is similar to the list for who has access to Leader and Clerk Resources. I know STS isn't handled the same as others on that site.

You may need to be more specific and provide an example.

LDS Tools Contact Bulk Export

#10

Post by dreamriverdesign »

Let me start with my problem I normally have not using LDS TOOLS.

I regularly export contacts from the the ward website into vCard, but now .CSV format (vCard format not available now) to import to my address book so that I have it all on my phone for caller ID and to make calls.

But the .CSV (or vCard) version does not separate the spouses names, so the caller ID is really long because it just shows the first names of both spouses, and would like to see the last name. (I usually remember last names better in my ward, not first names.)

I cannot import contacts individually, nor have their callings or cellphone for each person on the contact. It is now common that there would be 2 or 3 phone numbers in a house hold, and would like to be able to have individual contact for each member of the ward with their email and phone to that person along with their callings and address.

LDS TOOLS shows the contact info of each individual that is not seen on the website.

I really love how LDS Tools list individuals on the contacts and their callings.

I would love to be able to export ALL the contacts in my ward to my iPhone Contact (Address) book as individuals with their callings in the Job Title or something like that in one touch of a button. Right now the only way to do it is to add it one at a time for each person. And their Calling title is not copied to the address book.

Any chance of making that happen. (I really hope I made myself clear, please contact me if there is any questions.)
