Membership Refresh?

#1

Post by kerryhaxton »

A data refresh will include individual membership data, household data, standard positions stored in CDOL, geographical information, temple recommend information, and boundary realignments. Missing will be temporary membership records, out of unit records, non-standard positions, HT/VT records, custom classes, custom class assignments, financial data, and so on.

Can I have some clarification around this refresh. And a process around clearing callings: Is there anyway to not loose the HT/VT records... ?

I did a refresh recently and I didn't loose HT/VT records, class assignments or financials at all. Custom callings are in CDOL now so you don't lose them either. It did replace all of the calling information so I'd recommend having a printout of all callings before requesting the refresh so you can compare and correct anything wasn't correct in CDOL. I believe you can also loose pending changes to membership records but I'm not sure about that. For safety, I'd made sure all changes have been transmitted and confirmation received before requesting the refresh. I don't know about out-of-unit records or temporary membership records. We didn't have any of those.

Doing a refresh does not cause you to lose any HT/VT data or anything else except for calling information -- but you would only lose calling information to the extent that what you previously transmitted to CDOL differs from what is in MLS.

The fact that a data refresh sends down only a subset of the full MLS data doesn't mean that any of the other information in MLS will be lost just because you do a refresh. All the other data is still retained.
Questions that can benefit the larger community should be asked in a public forum, not a private message.

Just so as not to confuse anyone, I broke the last few messages off into a new thread. The original thread was about what happens if you lose the data and are forced to use a backup. That's a different subject then your question about a membership refresh.
