Calendar problem

When I try to create an event on the calendar I am unable to uncheck the "Use entire location for this event" box. Any Ideas?

Typically that happens because the location (building) you are trying to schedule has not been configured with specific resources. Contact your building scheduler or a stake calendar approver (a stake clerk or stake presidency member) -- they can explain why the calendar is set up that way, or fix the location so that it will have specific resources that can be scheduled within the location.

Am I mistaken, or can only building schedulers "fix locations," at a local building, not bishoprics?

You're close, and I definitely made a bit of a mistake in my first response -- thanks for pointing that out (I've edited my post accordingly). In addition to building schedulers, stake approvers can make changes to resources in locations. Ward approvers cannot.

Thanks for clearing that up.

My suggestion would be to allow bishops to change or manage locations for their building, and assign building schedulers. After all, one of us is the agent bishop in charge of such things. It is just a bit cumbersome when the building scheduler is in another ward and I am agent bishop. It is also cumbersome to wait for the stake to change building schedulers if we roate that responsibility as well. It is our building, let us manage it. Sort of a "states rights" issue... :)

Bishops, their counselors, or any other member of the ward for that matter can be assigned as a building scheduler. There can be more than one building scheduler for a location. See the Help for the calendar for the rights and roles of the building schedulerfor a more detailed explanation.

You can either have a stake approver or the currently designated stake building specialist add additional building schedulers as needed. I am not certain, since I am not a building scheduler, but a designated building scheduler may aslo be able to add other building schedulers. Someone else may have to verify this.

I do not recommend a bishop being the only building scheduler just so that he as the agent bishop can maintain control of the building. I do agree that he should be added as an additional building scheduler. But taking it further in keeping with reducing the burdens bishops have, I would designate one of his counselors as the additional building scheduler.

Oh, I understand that, JD. I've requested it twice of our stake clerk, who for whatever reason never seems to get around to it, and I don't think I should have to ask something of someone 3 times. ;)

I just think it should be something that is automatic and tied to the office of bishop, and not tied to my name so it all has to be done again when I am released.

Not a big deal, just more of a nit-picky/philosophical thing.
