Out of Unit Calling

#1

Post by wallacer »

The bishopric in our YSA ward are from outside the unit. The bishop and one counselor show up on the leadership roster, but the other counselor does not show up. It all worked fine under classic system. Any suggestions>

The new system pulls it's information from MLS. Check MLS to see what is different about that one counselor. Is his position entered using a Standard Position? Does his his out-of-unit membership record have his real MRN?

Since you referred to "classic system" I'm guessing that the "leadership roster" you are referring to is the leadership directory in the Classic Ward and Stake Websites (LUWS), which used to work, and now you are looking at the Ward Leaders and Organizations section of the new directory (http://lds.org/directory), which doesn't. Is that correct?

If so, it's important to note that leadership callings were manually entered a website administrator in LUWS, but for the new directory, the callings come from CDOL after being entered in MLS. So you need to make sure that the other counselor is entered properly in MLS with an Out-of-Unit membership record, and then that he is entered in the Bishopric organization in MLS as the appropriate counselor with a standard calling. You should check in CDOL to make sure that he appears there properly; if he is in CDOL, he should appear in the leadership section of the new directory. If he doesn't appear in CDOL, then he can't possibly appear in the new directory.
Questions that can benefit the larger community should be asked in a public forum, not a private message.

You are correct. He does not show up in the Ward Leaders and Organizations section, nor does he show up under households. Yesterday we went into MLS and added his membership record into MLS into his out-of-unit membership record. I will check about entering him into the Bishopric organization. Thanks for your help. Someday we will get this fixed. (Part of the problem is that on Sunday's the ward computer is in use from early morning till well after the 3 hour block. In a YSA ward you have so many callings, so many donations, and so many home and visiting teaching routes, its non stop action.
