Next Revision Unit Web Sites Wish List

#1

Post by srweight »

1. II wish that I had a very simple monthly calendar that would show up with the submission so I could see the day of the month, i.e., Sunday, etc. and show if that date has anything schedule on it. It would make most submissions easier to approve.

2. iI would also love for the ending time of an event to be shown in the main tag line. Members using the site have requested this and sometimes enter the times in the event title.
Example 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM Volleyball

3. A link on the site for the stake building use policy would really be great!

4. And while I am at it, how about the repeating event feature having the option to populate the repeated event as a one-time single event entry for the repeating time duration so that an exception can be deleted without entering 10 one-time single events or some combination of single and repeating events.

Example, "Fast Sunday" repeating on every 1st Sunday. would put a one-time single event on the 1st Sunday for the time requested. Then I could just change the date on General Conference weekends to the next Sunday (or when every) and have it done. One repeating entry and two edits. Instead of one entry starting in Nov and repeating until Mar, one entry for April, one entry for May to Sep, and finally one entry for Oct.

You can post it to the "News and Information" section.

It would also be helpful to remove only one of those repeating events for times when the usual day is moved for some reason.

Repeating events

I agree 100% with srweight in that the next feature of the calendar needs to be the ability to schedule an exception to a repeating event. Does anyone know of an official "feature request" page where we can post this? It's great for the end users to talk about, but it'd be better if some decision-makers heard about it. :)

Here's another thread with the same request....

We are gathering all of these suggestions and giving them to the "decision-makers" for their review. There currently is no "official feature request" page so this forum will have to do.

Tom what is there opinion of the forums now? Do they see it as a valuable place for getting the communities suggestions or more of a place where people just come and complain? Just wondering on the effectiveness since I can see both of these angles.

Those are all good points and would be very helpful.

I have another item to add to the wish list for consideration. I know in MLS, you can see the member move in and member move out reports. Is there any way that those who have admin rights on the webpages could log in and see that information on the ward webpages instead of looking through the whole membership directory to see if you spot any new names or if someone's name has been deleted because they moved out of the ward? This also would come in handy.

Thanks.

I think that the forums are a great place to communicate, share ideas, and concerns. Adoption within the Church is increasing. Members from different teams are joining into the conversations and are being made aware of how the community feels. I think that overall, most people are offering good suggestions and the discussions are more positive than negative. This has been made possible by the great help of the community and with the wonderful oversight of the moderators. I'm frustrated as are many of you that we (the Church) can't move on initiatives as fast as we would like to. There are many, many factors why we struggle with this but suffice it to say that we do listen and are learning. Cassie has been doing a great job of taking all of the comments for the various products and delivering them to the appropriate teams.

I was in a meeting the other day with a bunch of developers and I was discussing some of the feedback from these forums. One of the developers jumped into the forums and was amazed at how active the discussions were.

I'm working on some new initiatives that will take this site to a new level. I can't go into details now as I am still in the process of getting everything in place. However, I am super excited about the future of tech.lds.org, the forums and most importantly, community involvement. I firmly believe that by leveraging the experience of the community, we can solve some of the most challenging technical problems that the Church faces. Thanks for all of your continued support and involvement. It is changing the way we are working at the Church.

Up in the Night Dreaming - Proactive Options for Ward Web Site

#10

Post by srweight »

If the member doesn’t have interest in or remember to come to the ward site then give them the option to have the ward website come to them.:)

Options would be under the User profile to make the LUWS proactive to member’s needs

The following are some suggestions;

Change Options
Please send me email notifications every week of
Option #1 - Changes in ward membership
Option #2 - Changes in ward leadership
Option #3 - News and Information postings to the ward website
Option #4 - The ward calendar for the next 6 weeks

Monthy Message Option
Please send me email notification with the Home Teaching / Visiting Teaching Message as soon as the Ensign is sent each month.

Gems Options
Please send me the following Gems
(list Gems to select)

Maginfy My Calling Options
My current calling in the church is (enter in a field or select from a look-up callings list). Please send me the related LDS.org information related to that calling.

(Example: I select “Sunday school teacher” and the website sends me via email the most likely lessons that I would use this week ( a range of 3 or 4 lessons would allow for conferences and the likes) and related items in the Church News or other information that I would use in presenting my lesson)

(Example: I select “ward clerk” and the website sends me via email information about MLS changes or help sections or updates.)

(Example: I select “Stake Tech Specialist” and the website sends me via email information about why I got the error message “Your stake is not participating in the online websites” and error message “You don’t have admin rights anymore”)

(Example: I select “Primary Presidency” and the website sends me via email information about the church’s open house for Primary Presidents.)
