Blessing Certificate

#1

Post by PLP9998-p40 »

Hello all,
I received my son's blessing certificate yesterday and it has my maiden name instead of my married name. Is this normal? I've never seen a blessing certificate before so I have nothing to compare it too.

Thanks!!

By default, a blessing certificate will indeed contain the mother's maiden name. So it is totally normal. I imagine the thinking is that it is like a genealogical record, and on pedigree charts and other such records, your maiden name would be used.

The clerk who prepares such a certificate does have the option of adjusting the name before he prints it, but I don't know if that should be done, just because it can.
Questions that can benefit the larger community should be asked in a public forum, not a private message.

Thank you! That makes sense, I just wasn't aware of the process.
