total households

Hi, on the unit statistics screen I see 192 households, when I look at the home teaching statistics screen I see 189 total households. Does anyone know why these two screens would display different totals? Thanks.

Also the total unassigned on on the home teaching statistics screen is 3 but if I look at Households Not Assigned to be Hometaught I see 5 households.

I think the home teaching statistics screen captures a point in time (end of last month), whereas the unit statistics or the Households Not Assigned report uses the current data.

The last time I researched this very deeply, I learned that there are two different houshold lists used by MLS and they sometimes get out of sync. I got the MLS developers wrapped up deeply enough into the problem to solve the specific issue I had, but I have not followed up since.

There have been a number of version updates since. Alan has shared another correct reason why there may be a difference.

If I not mistaken, the Heads of Households statistic in the Unit Statistics Report, is the sum of all 'individuals' that are identified in the Ward Directory as the Head of Household, whether a member of not. Non-member spouses, I believe, are so assigned. Another way to discover how the count is derived is to look for a Single Adult (=>30) in your Ward Directory who is listed in a "child" position within a family structure. If you remove that individual from the family structure and make him or her their own head of household, your Head of Household statistic will increase.

You may have some Non-Member Records left in a Head of Household position after the "family" record, which did not technically include them, was moved out of the Ward.

I believe the two sets of figures should be the same, but not because of duplicate listings. (I just noticed that I'm probably a-day-late on this reply.)
