Ward Meeting House Cleaning Supplies

#1

Post by johnshaw »

I'm hoping that some of you have experience with maintaining the cleaning supplies in your ward meeting houses. I struggle with a very passive stake facilities rep. This person does not proactively maintain supplies, and we tend to run out of supplies. There isn't a ward in the 3 ward rotation that feels ownership about the supplies, and after cleaning out the closets today due to sheer frustration, I found pieces of paper dated to the 90's... these closets need some serious work. Here is the frustration. I found the phone number of the FM rep, in the closet as I was cleaning out supplies, and made a phone call. I asked, what I thought was a simple question. What cleaning supplies does our building need to be fully stocked? His answer, whatever you need.... You can see the beginning of a circular issue here. How do I know what I need, when I don't know what I should have? And there doesn't seem to be anyone who can tell me what I need... so I'm hoping someone here can...

Does anyone have a good list of supplies that we should maintain in the building, part numbers would be great. Anything that can help with a rotation to keep supplies up-to-date?

Thanks a bunch

If I was in your shoes, I'd find out which councilor in the stake presidency is over the Physical Facilities and have a little talk with him. I would not want to be denying someone else of their blessings. ;)

My brother in AZ sent me these documents which contain the same info that is posted on the wall in our closet on the West Coast.

Cleaning Chemicals checklist/reference list

#4

Post by rb5family-p40 »

We received a new video file that was shown in combined RS/PH session last Sunday. It had a checklist that showed the item to be cleaned with a chemical that was to be used... ie., toilet needed cleaner 66...etc... does anyone know where this checklist is at?

thanks

The FM Group is responsible to make sure that there are cleaning supplies and chemicals for members to use in the building. They also provide the cleaning instructions. If they are not doing this...well, they are not doing their job. They should also be maintaining the mops and brooms, vacuums, etc in the closet so they are ready to use for the members. If they are not doing this then they are not doing their job. I would contact the Stake PFR or the Stake President and let them know that you do not have the proper supplies to maintain your building. Ask for the supplies and the training. It's the SP job to make sure the FM Group is doing their job.

Granted the FM Groups are spread very, very thin but they should be at the buildings making sure you are stocked and have the ability to do your job in member participation.

I saw a checklist for the building cleaning night for the members but all had been used up. Does anyone know where to find a list with boxes to check mark as the parts of the building are done? thanks.

Julieeames, this isn't something that makes sense to have for each building, what makes more sense is that each Agent Ward replicate the same process that hundreds of other Agent Wards do all over the country. Basically, make up the list yourself is the answer, if you're lucky you could contact FM or someone with a floormap of your building and you could put together something that might last a while. It'll need to be recreated once someone changes callings and the electronic version is no longer known, and the last paper version is inevitably used by members in a hurry to get to a soccer game. :)

Where I live, the FM Group has a list they furnish and expect the members to use. The building coordinator orders copies the same way he orders paper towels and other cleaning products.

Who do I order toilet paper from? I thought the FM group was supposed to keep up on this. Am I mistaken? (Bishop asking)

Last I was involved, someone at the building lets the FM Group know when supplies are needed. I don't know if that person goes through the stake physical facilities rep or not.
