ordering large boundary maps

#1

Post by colbyj-p40 »

Does the church have available large unit boundary maps that we might order? As a stake clerk, I'm wondering if this is possible to have one for my stake, and also for one of our wards that is asking.

we are familiar with the map tools on the new church website. they are great. However, I did not see anything map related via church distribution. Wondering if it is possible to order large maps from the chuch with our boundaries depicted?
thanks

You can download them via CDOL. Then you would have to get them printed. Look at your stake and you will see a Unit Boundary Maps option which will give you the stake and all the ward boundaries. There are letter size and poster size as well as KMZ files to download.

If you're wanting large maps you can also order them by calling Local Unit Support at 1-800-453-3860 ext 23500.

I assist with our stake's ERC (emergency communications) group, and I would love to get KMZ files of our boundaries. I am a finance clerk in my home ward, so when I log into CDOL, I get pretty much nothing. I don't see anything at new the LDS Maps site, either. Is there any other way to get the KMZs?

I almost had to pull teeth to get the boundary PDF files I have now. HQ wouldn't send me one, so I ended up having to go through the stake clerk, who had to call SLC on my behalf to get the PDF copies. Why make the map data so hard to get? I mean, I can now download the basic stake membership data as a CSV file, and I would figure the member data would be protected more tighly. Why keep boundary maps so close to the vest?

Actually as a finance clerk you can get the KMZ files for your stake and wards, from CDOL. You will have to go to your stake (after you login search on your stake name) and you will have the option to view the maps, which has the KMZ files listed there too.

Wow, cool, I was just using it wrong. I assumed it would just show me my stake data (knowing what stake I was in by my login). When it showed me nothing, I assumed I had no rights to see anything.

This is great! I've been dreading making GE KMZ boundary maps by hand, so this is very welcome. I appreciate the access to the data, and the work in helping to make it accessible. Thanks!

thanks for the info and phone number, I'll call and make the order. the paper size won't work, we'll need some big ones.
