CUBS & Internet Payments
How will Cubs handle the budget situation in which the Stake pays the internet connection charges for the wards, then shows the amount to be charged to the unit in a stake budget category.

There is no change in how this is handled under CUBS. If the stake pays it with stake budget funds, it will still show up in whatever stake budget subcategory it is charged to.
Questions that can benefit the larger community should be asked in a public forum, not a private message.

We received word from the FM group that they would take over paying internet costs Jan 1 2011 and they also wanted to know what other buildings that the stake pres would install internet in if he could. There were guidlines that the brethren requested as far as a justifiable use goes.jshawut wrote:I heard a rumor that FM is going to start paying for these... anyone else out there?

I'm sure we'd all like to see them if it's permissible to pass them on.tregis wrote:There were guidlines that the brethren requested as far as a justifiable use goes.

Several months ago, our FM group asked for the cost of high speed internet in all the buildings in our stake so that they could budget those costs in their budget for next year. They also asked what it would cost for installation fees for the buildings that did not have internet installed now, also for their 2011 budget.jshawut wrote:I heard a rumor that FM is going to start paying for these... anyone else out there?
They expect our administrative computers to use the lines. They are also installing special thermostats that will require internet access.

From the email the stake pres passed on to me from FM GroupRussellHltn wrote:I'm sure we'd all like to see them if it's permissible to pass them on.
"I am attaching a policy change in the cost of internet at ward buildings. Those buildings that have internet that you are paying for, I need to transfer them to our office so we pick up the cost and I also need a projection from you on the number of buildings that you would expand internet use to, so I can put those costs into my budget for next year. I need this information ASAP. Our budgets were turned in July 31. We have to modify them right away. Remember they ask that we that we use this for ‘appropriate, worthwhile purposes’"
They are looking at it here in NC on a cost vs benefit basis for some of the smaller units from what I'm told. I'm in process of installing the last multi ward building in the stake at present.
This is quoted from a letter dated July 2010 from the Information and Communications Systems Dept of the Church that the FM group forwarded to the Stake Pres. ( I'm the Stake Clerk and Tech Specialist) .
The summary line says that in 2011 the FM group will take over the costs of internet in buildings.
For some reason, I can't get the cut and paste to cooperate right now.
