Wireless Connection Instructions (template)

#1

Post by pete_arnett-p40 »

[Moderator's note:]The following is a summery of instructions that one stake has provided for their FHCs to connect patrons to the stake wireless system. It is offered here as a template for other stakes to create their own set of instructions.

Since this was created for a specific stake, your local setup and policies may differ.

It should be noted that patrons may connect to the stake system only only where approved by the stake president and family history center leadership.[/Note]

While AES encription is better, the issue here is compatibility with the largest number of users. While AES is becoming more common there is still a lot of hardware out there that is not AES compatible. Using AES would then lock those without that capability out of using the network.

The same is true of 802.11n versus 802.11g. The better choice would be 802.11n but a large number of users still only have 802.11g capability.
