stake clerk technical assistant

#1

Post by Mrb53 »

I have recently been called to the position and was hoping to find a good definition of my duties. I am presently switching out some clerk pc's with newer pc's at some of the different ward locations with my stake. I am trying to investigate something about "Meetinghouse Internet Implementation Plan 3_1" to see (if this has anything to do with this endeavor) the requirements for either imaging or creating a proper desktop for Internet / future internet connectivity. The major portion of the clerk computers are using modems for connectivity through the MLS program, but 1 or maybe 2 (am still discovering who does/doesn't) clerks have high speed connectivity (with permission). The stake specialist is unsure of the requirements if any and it is / may be a good idea to stay current with all the new legal requirements for compliance, etc. Any information you provide will be of benefit and I am greatful for the opportunity to serve in this position. I am in the Warm Springs stake of Las Vegas, Nevada.

It sounds like there is already a stake technology specialist, which is a standard calling, but that you have been asked to be his assistant. If I understand that correctly, your duties would be whatever subset of his duties he chooses to assign to you.

There are some helpful articles on the wiki. I'd start with the Stake technology specialist article, which covers the specific responsibilities, and then look at just about anything under Meetinghouse technology, which covers the technologies involved.

As for that specific Meetinghouse Internet implementation plan you mentioned, I believe that is out of date. I'd stick with what you learn on the wiki under Meetinghouse Internet.
Questions that can benefit the larger community should be asked in a public forum, not a private message.

Thank you for the links and the prompt reply to my request. I am serving as an assistant to the technical clerk but only until I am fully trained and he may be leaving for Idaho. I am trying to bring myself as up to date as possible with policy and procedure and your reply has helped me immensely.
