Ipad Mormon Channel Still not showing up

#21

Post by deltanner-p40 »

So you guys are all saying that the ipad mormon channel app is showing up in the app store for you, but it still isn't for me as of 1:17 EST on Tuesday June 15th.

Am I an idiot or am I missing something?

My son-in-law was asking me about mobile apps for his Blackberry and I referred him to this thread. Do you happen to have any insider information as when
relatively soon
will be?

According to information posted on the official mobile media site for the church, the mormon channel code for the IPAD is "Coming Soon".
iPad: (Coming soon)

It's a guess because there are approvals that have to obtained internally and externally, for some of them. If you're looking for Gospel Library for BlackBerry then my best guess is within 2 weeks. If you're looking for Mormon Channel for BlackBerry, that's already available on the site.

That's sooner than I'd expected. Please keep us informed.

Thanks!:p

I'm not trying to hijack this thread, and I think it's great that these mobile apps are now available.

However, why can't we get this quality on the desktop? I have a touch enabled laptop (Win7) and the existing scripture app is outdated and does not handle touch well.

Mentioned either here or elsewhere that Google was working on a web apps portal, those would be based on HTML 5 from the reply that I got. Maybe it is time in the very near future that something based on that would be desirable to develop for.

Needed Item for New Apps

#29

Post by adefazio-p40 »

I am using the apps on the iPod Touch, and they are awesome! The one thing that is missing from the experience, however, is the Church Magazines. The PDF formatted magazines aren't too great on the small iPod screen. I tried converting to ePub and Mobi using Calibre, but the documents are all messed up in those formats (must have something to do with work flow). It would be so great if the magazines could be added to / deleted from the Gospel Library app in the same way as the manuals. If not, perhaps they could be made available in a format that would be iBooks or Stanza friendly?

Thanks!
