MLS Online?

#1

Post by dannykos »

so I may just be waaaay slow on the uptake, but is it the intention that MLS will eventually/soon be an online application - to replace the current desktop version?

I've been browsing through the beta MLS Membership stuff here and I have to say it looks totally awesome!!

So, have i missed something over the last few months, or is this still pretty new?

The leadership-tools functionality now available on beta.lds.org, which at this time is limited to bishops, clerks, and perhaps stake presidents, is perhaps a couple of months old.

Reportedly there is other expanded functionality in development but not yet exposed in the beta available to local leaders. It is pretty obvious even absent any announcement that a strategic goal is to be able to migrate or replicate as much MLS functionality -- at least membership-related functionality -- to the the web as possible. If you think about all the functionality that exists in MLS, that is quite ambitious, so I would govern my expectations accordingly.

I agree that it would be wise to not get our hopes up, but the early signs are indeed promising. The number of greyed out menus suggest that a large part of MLS functionality will indeed be available online, which of course only leads to one obvious conclusion…

…must buy an iPad :)

SInce the latest MLS version is from February and it's only after months of some new releases quickly, I believe a new MLS with few membership things and a better financial things will be made in a replace iniciative to the actual MLS... that's my believe...

Oh, to be able to enter HT/VT contacts via MLS online! Now that would be progress.

any chance we can get the clerk side of the beta tools to extend towards assistant clerks? I do a fair amount of all the same work that the clerk does in my ward and I don't see the point of limiting these things from us.

I'm also the one who's likely to introduce all the new beta programs to the ward as a whole, it'd be nice to also show our team of clerks (three of us) how to use those parts efficiently too.

thanks.
